CliftonStrengths® defines the Consistency® talent theme as people that “are keenly aware of the need to treat people the same. They try to treat everyone in the world with consistency by setting up clear rules and adhering to them.”

You need balance

For you, treating everyone the same, no matter who they are is key. Ensuring that no one is given special favors more than another ensures that ego’s and selfishness are kept in check.

You see yourself as a protector of what’s right and fair and the group.

You will stand up for the underdog and help others see where there is an imbalance.

You need a predictable environment

You believe that people function best in a consistent environment where clear rules apply to everyone.

You have the ability to create an environment where people around you know what’s expected and where they stand.

Everyone has a chance to be their best, as from your point of view everyone has the same starting point.

You crave procedures

SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) is what you need and you thrive when tasks are repeated in the exact same way every time.

You raise awareness, can help create rules and policies that promote cultural predictability in that you’re able to create a more justified approach where people know what’s expected.

You will increase uniformity and reduce variance, it’s about creating and following rules that make sense, are efficient and about equality.

Fairness is key

You have the ability to make judgments that are fair to everyone involved. Your ability to create adherence to rules is based on an outward understanding of how everyone can work together.

You are driven by fairness and efficiency. You bring stability.

Identifying what your needs are to perform consistently will help you create processes and habits that work for you. Being clear on your mission and who your work for is important too.

You will acknowledge

And give credit where credit is due to everyone who contributed to an achievement.

Your ability to create safety and predictability helps others explore beyond places they might go without this.

This theme is in the lesser theme category for me, it’s a clear “so not me” line. I believe in equality, with everyone having the right to be given a chance and can appreciate the benefits of having a framework of rules, it’s just expressed in a different way, the beauty of our strengths.

If this is a dominant talent for you, it’s in all likelihood expressed in ways of rules. You may want to look at how and where you’re currently applying your rules, evaluate what rules you’ve created and how they ultimately are working for you, and others around you.
